Invited Speaker: Progression in the Growth of Cylindric Nanostructures: Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) and Carbon Nanofibers (CNFs) on Graphene

Dr. Syarifah Norfaezah Sabki is a lecturer at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). She has been working with UniMAP since 2005 after she graduated with her MSc. degree in Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), where she researched solid state physics and microelectronics.

She then obtained her Ph.D. in Physics in 2012 from the University of Nottingham, U.K., under the Nanoscience Centre, where she worked on graphene growth on Ni thin film under the supervision of Prof. Peter Beton. During her Ph.D. in 2009, she had an opportunity to collaborate with the graphene research group under Prof. Andre Geim, the Nobel Prize Winner in Physics from the University of Manchester, on graphene isolation and Raman scattering.

Dr. Syarifah then continued to work with graphene, graphene-based devices, and microelectronics devices in UniMAP and has supervised and co-supervised several MSc. and Ph.D. projects. She is now focused on carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-graphene hybrid material for application as electrodes and interconnections. Dr. Syarifah is a Senior Member of IEEE and recently was appointed as the Chair of IEEE Sensors & Nanotechnology Council Malaysia Joint Chapters.
