Irzaman was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1963. He received the B.S. in agro-meteorology from Bogor Agricultural University, in 1988, M.S. degrees in physics from University of Indonesia, in 1998, and Ph.D. degree in physics from Bandung Technology University, Bandung, in 2005.

Since 1997, he is a resident lecturer of Physics Department, Bogor Agricultural University. From 2007 to 2011, he was the Physics Head of Department, Bogor Agricultural University.

From 2011, he was the Head of Material Physics Laboratory, Physics Department, Bogor Agricultural University. His research interests include sensors engineering, semiconductor device physics and new material characterization, and ferroelectrics.
